As the fall semester comes to a rousing cadence, I'm especially excited about the next several months because I'll be on my first sabbatical -- ever! After teaching for so many years in so many different colleges/universities, I finally qualified for a sabbatical leave for spring 2011. I am grateful to William Jewell College for this opportunity. I have two projects that will take most of my time. First, I'm working on an all-Alain program celebrating the centenary of his birth and am very pleased to have the opportunity to delve into his inventive compositions. I can hardly wait to start practicing! Really!
The second project will take far more than one semester to complete but is critically important to ongoing developments in organ pedagogy. I will be working on an oral history project exploring major influences on noted American organ teachers of the past half-century. It is vital to preserve this information for future generations of organ students and teachers.
Please check here from time to time for updates on my progress!
